Why should I give my budget information?
Because there are so many variables in designing a remodel we use this information to help when selecting materials or deciding on things to do.
For example: If we were designing a bathroom remodel with you and you wanted to move the toilet to the other side of the room:
- On a tight budget we would let you know that moving the toilet would push you out of your budget range and work with you to figure out another way to solve the problem.
- On a bigger budget we would continue discussing the option knowing you are still within your budget limits.
We have done $6,000 kitchen remodels and $60,000 kitchen remodels. Both clients were very happy and got what they wanted.
Why is this better than getting 3 bids?
- In your bid you would include moving the toilet, so all 3 bids would be out of your budget.
- A contractor will give you a bid on only the things you specify. If there is anything you forgot it will cost you extra, a lot extra.
- When you are getting bids, you are taking the risk and responsibility for all the design and any mistakes in the design. Even if there are better and less expensive ways to do the same thing, they won't get mentioned and you will end up paying more for something that is not as good.
- I'm sure you've heard stories of a kitchen remodel that was bid at $30,000 and was going to take 4 weeks but when it was done it cost $75,000 and took 3 months. The result is usually an expensive kitchen that is almost what you wanted and during the process a lot of stress and frustration. This is common when people get bids or do the design themselves.
- In contrast, this same $75,000 kitchen probably would have been priced at $35,000 using our design build system. It would have cost $35,000 and been done in 4 weeks and it would have worked and looked better than the $75,000 kitchen. Plus you would have enjoyed the whole process with very little or no stress.
